Durham Tees Valley Airport has announced a partnership with Middlesbrough Football Club through which they are promoting the airport’s connections to destinations across the world to the team’s fans and their families. The deal will see the airport benefit from a prime advertising presence at the club’s Riverside ground, promoting its worldwide connections to fans in the ground and television viewers across the globe.
The club and the airport will also work together on developing initiatives underlining the benefits for both the club and the local community, including flight giveaway competitions on selected match days and other special offers from airline partners including KLM.
“We are delighted to announce this partnership, which will cement our already close relationship with the Boro,” says Shaun Woods, Durham Tees Valley Airport Manager. “We already work very closely with them on team travel to their away Premier League fixtures, supporting other teams arriving for games at the Riverside, and player personal travel. The support from the club in this new partnership will help to promote the message that Durham Tees Valley really is at the heart of the local community and that, through the flagship KLM service to Amsterdam Schiphol, whether for business or pleasure, you can fly to over 200 destinations worldwide.”
Lee Fryett, Head of Partnerships, Middlesbrough Football Club, adds: “We already have close links with Durham Tees Valley as the team regularly use it for our away travel, and this new partnership will help us to greatly develop the relationship with the airport. We are certainly committed to playing our part in helping to promote its future development. Football is an international business, which is the same for so many of our local companies who increasingly have to compete in the global marketplace and for whom access to a worldwide network from their local airport is so important.”
