Heathrow’s Wilbraham wins BAG’s Lifetime Achievement Award
29 September 2021, The Brewery, City of London: Zaha Hadid Architects, whose work includes the new Beijing Daxing Airport and the currently-under-construction new Western Sydney Airport, won the raffle for an exhibition stand at the British-Irish Airports EXPO drawn from the 211 delegates attending the British Aviation Group’s Seminar and Evening Reception, sponsored by British-Irish Airports EXPO, along with Bechtel, CEM Systems, and Gardiner & Theobald.
Just elected – the new BAG Chair Jason Fowler, Partner with Gardiner & Theobald, joined here by British-Irish Airports EXPO’s Paul Hogan – a co-sponsor of BAG’s Seminar and Evening Reception, along with Bechtel, CEM Systems, and Gardiner & Theobald. Fowler related how BAG – “a great British trade association” – has emerged from the pandemic with a membership of 210 companies.When did you last see anything like this? 211 delegates packed out the room as BAG Board Members Dan Jones (Atkins) and Darrell Swanson (Swanson Aviation) act as facilitators.The Seminar: “We’re really excited to be refocussing on decarbonisation and inclusiveness” said Catherine Phillips, Innovation Architect, Heathrow Airport, joined by Gary Cutts, ISCF Future Flight Challenge Director, UKRI; Jenny Ward, Deputy Director for Aviation Strategy, Consumers and Innovation, Department for Transport; Rohit Talwar, Global Futurist/CEO, Fast Future; and Mike Miller-Smith, Chief Executive, Aerobility, BAG’s chosen charity.BAG’s Lifetime Achievement Award went to Phil Wilbraham (far right) – recently retired from Heathrow where he was Expansion Programme Director. Paying tribute, BAG Chairman Jason Fowler said Wilbraham has made “a substantial and sustained contribution to Heathrow’s built environment which will continue to serve and stand long into the future as his impressive legacy.”
