The UK Airports Winter Resilience Group has announced that it will hold its annual meeting at this year’s British-Irish Airports EXPO at ExCeL London on 6 October.
The UK Airports Winter Resilience Group has been established for over a decade and is attended by senior winter operations representatives invited from all the UK airports, providing a vital forum to exchange ideas and experiences. Typically, some 40 airports are represented.
The group is chaired by Giles Peeters (Airfield Operations Duty Manager, Stansted Airport, a unit of the Manchester Airports Group), who recently succeeded Heathrow’s John Hamshare as chair. Hamshare has subsequently departed his role as Heathrow’s Airside Regulation and Oversight Manager, following a 30-year career that also included roles at Gatwick and Southampton airports.
A key focus of the UK Airports Winter Resilience Group meeting this year is scheduled to be the CAA’s work relating to ICAO’s new harmonised methodology for assessing and reporting runway surface conditions – the Global Reporting Format. Originally scheduled to apply from November 2020, implementation may now be delayed – but continued discussion is essential.
The British-Irish Airports EXPO has 150 exhibitors, among which many winter service suppliers regularly participate:
- Aebi Schmidt
- ASFT
- Boschung
- Bunce
- DBD Communications
- JCB
- KOTI Group
- LNT Solutions
