Archived item: KLM returns to London City with Amsterdam service

KLM has returned to London City (LCY), commencing a 333km link from Amsterdam (AMS). Currently operated six times weekly, the service will increase to 12 times weekly from 20 February, and from end-March will grow to 23 times weekly.

On hand to celebrate the return of KLM to London City on 6 February by cutting the cake were: Warner Rootliep, GM Air France-KLM Great Britain & Ireland; Boet Krieken, MD KLM Cityhopper; Declan Collier, CEO London City Airport; and Senja Mantere, KLM Crew Member. A ribbon cutting also took place on the apron.

KLM has returned to London City (LCY) after an eight-year absence on 6 February, commencing a 333-kilometre link from Amsterdam (AMS). Launched at six times weekly, flights will increase to 12 times weekly from 20 February, and from end-March services will grow to 23 times weekly. All rotations are scheduled to be on the airline’s 100-seat E190s. The link between London City and Amsterdam is already served by three airlines, with CityJet (46 weekly flights), British Airways (37) and Flybe (twice-weekly). “We’re delighted to be back in the heart of London city. The new KLM service will offer our passengers a seamless and efficient service from Central London, not only to Amsterdam, but also to exciting worldwide destinations such as New York, Dubai and Hong Kong. We know how important connectivity is to both our corporate clients and our leisure customers and we are confident that this new service will be another KLM success story,” says Warner Rootliep, GM Air France-KLM Great Britain & Ireland. London City becomes KLM’s 17th UK destination, and its second in the UK capital after London Heathrow.
