Inaugurated on 21 January, Austrian Airlines offers a weekly (Saturdays) service between Innsbruck and Gatwick.
Austrian Airlines has become the only non-UK airline to operate flights between Innsbruck (INN) and London Gatwick (LGW). Inaugurated on 21 January, the Star Alliance member will offer a weekly (Saturdays) flight on the 938-kilometre airport pair, which will be flown on a mixture of its A319s and A320s. The route is already offered by five carriers, with easyJet (16 weekly flights), British Airways (five), Monarch Airlines (four), Thomas Cook Airlines (two) and Thomson Airways (two) already offering a combined 29 weekly flights. The first flight (OS9591) left Innsbruck at 07:35, 20 minutes behind its scheduled departure time. However, it arrived into Gatwick at 08:06, nine minutes ahead of schedule. On Saturdays, Austrian offers the first departure of the day to Gatwick from Innsbruck, with Thomas Cook Airlines’ flight on the sixth day of the week being the next departure at 09:55. In total 11 flights operate on Saturdays on this airport pair during winter, which represents 38% of the weekly flights on offer.
